The call for papers for the First International Meeting of the European Architectural History Network, Guimarães, Portugal, 17-20 June 2010 has been issued. Papers are sought for the twenty-five sessions and roundtables at the conference which will cover architecture of all periods, from antiquity, medieval, and early modern, up through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as topics from allied disciplines. L'edizione di quest'anno, all'insegna del tema dell'Eternità, affronta la questione del tempo nell'immagine fotografica. La fotografia ha infatti un rapporto alquanto particolare e speciale con il tempo: essa ha mostrato per la prima volta all'uomo l'istante reale, il presente, fissato in immagine, ma, appena fatto, quel momento è già passato, lasciando una sensazione strana nell'osservatore. Guardare un'immagine fotografica è sempre vedere il passato. Ma soprattutto ci sono istanti e instanti, alcuni brevi, altri lunghi, sospesi, vibranti, dilatati, e c'è un tempo dell'immagine stessa, interno all'immagine, che cattura e guida chi guarda. Eternità indica un tempo lungo, il tempo della sospensione, della meditazione, della sedimentazione, il tempo dell'arte; ma evoca anche ipotesi di dimensioni temporali diverse, nuove, che facciano i conti con i cambiamenti così come con le persistenze, con la memoria e insieme con le nuove tecnologie. Che idea abbiamo oggi dell'eternità nell'era di Internet?

Padova Aprile Fotografia. Forme dell’Identità,

quest’anno alla sua quinta edizione, presenta le seguenti mostre: Museo Civico di Piazza del Santo: Douglas Kirkland. Portraits, con una selezione di circa sessanta ritratti dei più noti personaggi dello spettacolo e della moda del nostro secolo come Angelina Jolie, Marilyn Monroe, Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson, Nicole Kidman, Marcello Mastroianni, Robert De Niro. Galleria Sottopasso della Stua: The Oxford Project. Fotografie di Peter Feldstein, testi di Stephen G. Bloom è un lavoro che ripercorre le radici di una cittadina dell’America rurale (Oxford, Iowa) ricercandone la vera identità attraverso un percorso fatto di storie e ritratti personali dei singoli abitanti. Senior staff members of the Library of Congress Conservation Division will present two short lectures. Ms. Sylvia Albro will discuss the use of Fabriano handmade paper by printers, artists and mapmakers in Renaissance Italy, and distinctive characteristics of these papers that affect their identification and longevity.

Ms. Claire Dekle and Ms. Mary Elizabeth Haude will discuss the development of unified protocols by the Conservation Division's 'Protocols for Iron Gall Ink Treatment Group', and the application of these decision-making tools in recent conservation treatments of 18th century American manuscripts.

ASTA BENEFICA - I FOTOGRAFI PER L’ABRUZZO

FORMA – CENTRO INTERNAZIONALE DI FOTOGRAFIA di Milano propone una vendita speciale di fotografie per le vittime del terremoto in Abruzzo.

Le immagini hanno come tema comune Il territorio italiano: una possibilità di riflessione in più intorno a un territorio così bello e così fragile, così profondamente segnato dalle calamità naturali ma, ancora di più, dall’incuria di chi, evidentemente, questo territorio non sa rispettare e forse neanche osservare con il giusto rispetto.
Ogni autore ha contribuito mettendo generosamente a disposizione una sua opera. Le fotografie verranno raccolte in una piccola mostra, visitabile a Forma dal 28 aprile al 3 maggio per poi, dal 4 maggio essere a disposizione per l’acquisto.

Il giorno 4 maggio, lunedì, alle ore 18, avverrà la vendita speciale (organizzata su base d’asta) i cui proventi verranno integralmente devoluti alla Onlus Save the Children, che si sta occupando fin dal primo giorno dell’assistenza, in particolare verso i bambini, in tutte le zone d’Abruzzo colpite dal terremoto.
